  • Biography: Junpeng Guo earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). After graduating from UIUC, he started to work as a research scientist with Rockwell Science Center in Thousand Oaks, California and later with Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has made contributions to numerous areas of photonics, optics, and lasers. Most notably, he pioneered the fabrication of high-resolution thin film micropolarizer arrays for polarimetric imaging and 3D displays and invented dielectric metal nanolayer structures for reducing attenuation losses in surface plasmon waveguides. He is currently Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Optical Science and Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He and his students currently are working on novel nanostructure plasmonic waveguides, nanostructure surface plasmonics, and metamaterials. He was a recipient of ASEE-Air Force Office of Scientific Research Summer Faculty Fellowship in 2010 and a recipient of ASEE-Naval Research Office Summer Faculty Fellowship in 2011, and also a sole recipient of the Outstanding Junior Faculty Award in the College of Engineering of University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2007.
